PAISLEY AND THE SMA' SHOT DAY!
July marks the beginning of an important month for the town of Paisley, located just outside Glasgow. The first weekend of the month will be dedicated to the celebration of a significant event, offering a wonderful opportunity to explore Scotland's ties with Iran, Pakistan, India and China.
The classic Sma' Shot Parade will wind its way through town from noon to 1 p.m., sharing some fascinating untold stories of the weavers' history and showcasing some of the artists and characters who have enlivened the Paisley Fair in the past. From noon to 4 p.m., Abbey Close will be the scene of an afternoon full of family entertainment, with performances on the main stage, stalls and many activities for children. At 1:30 p.m., the burning of cork, symbolizing the infamous middleman between weavers and factory owners, will take place. For those interested, a traditional tea dance will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Methodist Central Halls. Visitors will also be able to step back in time at the Sma' Shot Cottages for a glimpse into the lives of Paisley's weavers, with guided tours available throughout the afternoon from noon to 4 p.m. In addition, the creative hub on Brown's Lane will host a Maker Market from noon to 8 p.m., offering the perfect opportunity to find something unique.
