June 25th, my D.O.B.
Here I am again, my dear friends, telling you a little about myself! As you may have already read in previous blog articles, I was born on 25 June (like the chef with whom I published the translation of today's fairy tale!) According to a little book I unearthed among my memories, this is one of the characteristics of those born on this day of the year:
"Being accepted by those who listen to them is essential for them to maintain their self-confidence, and equally important is the ability to work and create; the support of the family, in particular, acts as an anchor and stabilising element in their career. Without this trust and faith, the energies of those born on 25 June can run out or suddenly collapse. In some cases, they themselves can also become exhausted by an excess of sensual or hedonistic urges. "
What can I say, I think this is very true, although I have very often found in books a refuge and in writing a way of expressing emotions that I have felt and feel. The person who has always been behind me, spurring me on to do things because "the dead take cold" has been my dad, with his brothers and his parents beside him.
And this I will never forget. "A Gathering of Tales from a Cosmopolitan Family" is not only for Chikaima Maitea and Chimamanda Lavinia, it is also for them: my godmother Laura, my uncle Enrico and my aunt Ivana.
