DANIELE MARZANO AND MICKOL LOPEZ'S FIRST BOOK - ADVICE FOR
The most beautiful weddings are those where the bride and groom manage to let their essence, tastes and passions shine through in every detail. This book, written in concert between a husband and wife, traverses the family's vicissitudes by letting the hearts, the emotions of both speak in a balanced relationship between the two parties. The message that Daniele Marzano and Mickol deliver through these pages is composed of multiple ideas: mothers are not the only ones responsible for changing children's dirty diapers, just as they are not the only people who can participate in kindergarten placement.
It's a peaceful protest, that of the Marzano - Lopez, which I don't feel like calling only feminist: at last men are free to be able to put their professional careers on standby to enjoy the most tender moments with the man cubs they helped bring into the world. A wonderful journey in which the drivers take turns, to savor every moment, to both breathe deeply every moment of life as new parents. The nights, the nostalgia for the good old days, the catching up on old customs like putting on makeup with a baby in your arms, so he wouldn't feel abandoned, because at that moment he needed you.
The wonder of BEING in the present time, together. Without so many trappings, without so many luxuries. Simply a man, a woman, and their child. From the FACEBOOK page you can learn that the children have become three, all boys, and that they are maturing a sensitivity to the clichés created by patriarchy that want the man fulfilled in the professional field, outside the home, and the woman fully realized only when she has a husband and one or more children. And instead men and women are different and equal, like every human being on this earth. We all need to be heard, because emotions have no gender or sexual orientation. A man can be scared and fearful, a woman can be strong and brave.
The beneficiaries of this change, of this liberation, are many: the children, the moms, but also society, with the possibility of working women and moms. Obviously, we need to provide families with efficient services, and then hire people who are passionate about the world of children. But how many primary education graduates are there in Italy? And who said that our children's teachers should only be women?
At the end is the explanation to the page name this family has become famous with: DRIVING WITHOUT A LICENSE. Which is not meant to be literal, but a beautiful modern metaphor to live life by following one's heart first and foremost. Following healthy rules, such as leaving the house for a walk, eating vegetables, cleaning the house, but also smiling, getting less angry, letting go of what makes us feel bad. And the final sentence of the book brings to mind a line written by Henry David Thoreau in Walden - life in the woods - "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams, live the life you have always imagined."
Daniel and Mickol write, on the last page of this book masterfully illustrated by Ilaria Urbinati in pastel colors that reflect the serenity you leave out of this book that you can easily read in a day: " Drive without a license whenever you feel like it. And if someone tries to tell you it's not so, you turn up the music, open the window and feel the wind on your face. "
I recommend this book especially to couples who are about to get married, and are not believers in any religion. You can use it as a sacred book on which to base the rules of your family, with which to raise happy, ambitious, carefree children. Happy.
And don't forget to circulate your Love, in whatever way you want to do it. Thank you, Mickol, Thank you Daniel. Thank you also to Samuel, David, and Liam. And happy third birthday to Liam from the Wandering Writer and her Wonders, Chikaima Maitea and Chimamanda Lavinia.
